Didan is a trained Energy Oil and Gas lawyer having obtained an LLM in Petroleum Law and Policy from the University of Dundee in the United Kingdom where he excelled with a distinction. As a student he enrolled as a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN) student chapter an organization that brings together professionals in the extractive industry. He is also a member of GOXI which is part of the World Bank Institutes’ Governance for Extractive Industries Program which brings together practitioners, scholars from government, private sector, with the aim of increasing and promoting good governance in the Energy Oil and Gas sectors.
He holds specialized knowledge in the extractive industry covering a number of areas ; Mineral and Petroleum Taxation; Environmental Law and Policy for Extractive Natural Resource Industry; International and Comparative Petroleum Law and Policy; Downstream Energy Law and Policy; Structuring Mining Agreements, International Project Finance and Petroleum Economics & Policy. He was recognized with Excellency in the area of International Project Finance an area which he intends to write his PHD thesis in the near future.
Didan started off this career in the legal profession way back in 2011 when he first enrolled as an advocate of the High Court of Uganda. He has since worked both in private law firms and government where he has gained vast experience in a number of areas. In his private practice he worked in a team at Synergy advocates that advised on a power purchasing agreement for a power plant producing 5MW of electricity. He has also authored a number of researched academic papers in renewable energy, minerals, electricity generation to mention but a few. He also worked as a part time law lecturer at Uganda Christian University where he lectured 4th year students on the oil and gas law in Uganda. Didan is an Associate Partner heading the Energy, Infrastructure, oil and gas department in the law firm.
